Despite his youth, Minneapolis and Cleveland-based guitarist and composer Will Schmid is a veteran of public gigging, leading groups across the Twin Cities, MN for over five years. His duos, trios, and quartets have played such popular Minnesota venues the 318 Cafe, Black Dog, and Jazz Central, headlining as well as playing opening sets for the likes of Eric Kamau Grávátt, Dave King, and Billy Peterson. With fellow guitarist Adam Astrup, Schmid co-led ensembles at the 2016 Winter, Twin Cities, and Iowa City Jazz Festivals, with a return appearance in Iowa City slated for this summer. Schmid now spends much of his time in Cleveland, studying with Paul Ferguson and Don Better as he pursues a degree in Physics at Case Western Reserve University.
